Film to Digital Transition

Arguably the single biggest change in photography since the invention of photography was the shift from film to digital.

The very first camera lens, as we would know it today, was invented by the maker of the first camera, Charles Chevalier. This was shortly after Louis Daguerre invented photography in 1839. Chevalier's lens was an achromatic landscape lens — basically, a lens with two elements that reduce chromatic aberration.

Introduced in April 1976, the AE-1 was a very successful camera worldwide. When the AE-1 came out, TTL manual-metering models (including the Canon FTb and FTb-N) were still the mainstream in the 35mm SLR market.

The camera obscura means "dark chamber" in Latin. It was the first camera ever created as a precursor to modern photography and played a key role in developing visual imaging techniques.
