“Watch out for crazy drivers who do not pay attention.” That’s one key takeaway from Kyle Bastie. In 1994, the then-20-year-old was riding his motorcycle when a truck swerved on the wrong side of the road and struck him. The crash amputated his right leg above the knee.As an active and avid outdoorsman, Kyle said he initially needed many adjustments to get a proper fit. “I felt it would be in my best interest to be part of the team that would help keep me active and comfortable,” he said. Kyle got back to the things he loves and found a new passion that allows him to make a difference in the lives of other amputees. He now works as a multisite manager and certified prosthetist and orthotist with NovaCare Prosthetics & Orthotics.“The personal experience with wearing a prosthesis lends well to bettering the lives of the patients I care for,” Kyle said. “If I can share one bit of advice with other amputees, it would be to continue to push forward and make each day the best day."Thank you, Kyle, for the unique insights, compassion and expertise you provide to our patients.#LLLDAM #LimbLoss #LimbLossAwareness

NovaCare Prosthetics & Orthotics was honored to sponsor and attend the recent Kenny Rogers Children's Center 5K in Sikeston, MO. Cape Girardeau Center Manager Rich Haws was there cheering his patients on as they raced.The event was part of the Kenny Rogers Children's Center Telethon that raised $318,518. This supports the Children's Center's mission to improve the lives of children with special needs.

Our NovaCare Prosthetics & Orthotics center in Roseville, MN recently hosted a patient engagement clinic with a wonderful turnout!We loved catching up with our patients and learning about new technologies and applications. Representatives from OneStep and Össur were also in attendance to help showcase these new technologies.

Recently, Vice President of NovaCare Prosthetics & Orthotics Steve Mantegani guest lectured at UMass Lowell for second-year students.This was Steve's 13th year as a guest lecturer at UMass' Physical Therapy Department's Clinical Education Seminar that discussed 'The Business of Physical Therapy' and his third year teaching in the physical therapy interventions III class for prosthetics and orthotics.

Peter Gibson, who's currently completing his orthotic residency at our Toledo, OH center, recently passed his exams and became a board certified prosthetist.Peter earned a masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh's Orthotic and Prosthetic program before completing his prosthetic residency at Prosthetic Orthotic Solutions International (POSI) in New Jersey.We're proud of Peter and happy to have him as one of our dedicated clinicians!

Minnesota clinicians enjoyed a training clinic with OneStep last week.OneStep equips prosthetists and orthotists with objective gait and motion analysis data that enables them to help patients achieve better mobility and showcase the impact of their device.
