These tasty Beer Bread Muffins are inspired by an old favorite. Back when I used to work in an office, there was a little bakery down the street that was my go-to lunch spot. They had this INCREDIBLE beer bread, and it called my name on a weekly basis. I loved to go in there for a chicken salad sandwichand some beer bread…omg. Just thinking about it is making me hungry again!

It was just the ultimate mid-day meal for me. Fast forward two years and I still love beer bread, but never get to eat it because I’m scared to make it at home! Homemade bread is still a bit too much for me, but that has all changed with this easy bread recipe. This beer bread recipe makes the perfect muffins. They are just simply too incredible, too easy, and too perfect for THANKSGIVING not to make immediately! They’re dense and comforting just like traditional beer bread, but in cute muffin form. I mean, isn’t that just perfection?!

This simple Bisquick Muffins recipe takes less than 30 minutes and they are SO good. It’s hard not to make them ALL THE TIME when they are this easy!

Fun Beer Bread Recipe

These are the types of muffins that bring a lot to the holiday table, and yet they don’t take away from the flavors of the other dishes. You gotta let those Turkey and side dishes SHINE, guys. These Beer Bread Muffins are perfect just as they are or with a little dab of butter or honey…or maybe even better with this Homemade Honey Butter. YUM! It’s too delicious, trust me!

We sprinkled them with some sea salt flakes, because I LOVE SEA SALT FLAKES, but they don’t even really need that. They’re just the perfect bread side for soups and chili, and especially for holiday meals. Homemade always feels and tastes best, but you also want them to be easy, or at least I do! These check all of the boxes. Lucky for me I have some left over, so I’m off to eat more now! You can make your own too, I promise they’re so easy!

Easy Bisquick Muffins

This recipe is so much easier thanks to a simple little recipe hack. Instead of making beer bread dough from scratch for these muffins, just use a bit of Bisquick mix to speed things up (not sponsored!). This Bisquick Muffins recipe is a fun way to use the mix and make your bread baking a little bit easier. It gives them the perfect consistency!

FAQs

What kind of beer is good for beer bread? ›

Lighter beers, such as lagers, ales and pilsners, will give your bread a lighter color, and mild taste that just about everyone loves. Darker beers like stouts and porters make a darker-colored loaf and have a stronger beer flavor. Hoppy beers like IPAs will give your bread a more bitter taste.

What makes English muffins different from other yeast breads? ›

Preparation of English muffins

The dough is relatively wet, and cannot be shaped as a bread dough could be. It is placed in rings on a griddle or pan and then cooked. The resulting muffins are cooled before eating. They are then cut in half; the texture has a small crumb, and is unlike bread dough.

Does beer have to be warm for beer bread? ›

Use room temperature beer: This helps the bread rise and creates a better texture than cold beer. Don't over-mix: After adding the beer to the dry ingredients, mix enough until just incorporated and nothing more. Overworking the dough will create a very dense loaf.

Is blue moon good for beer bread? ›

Mixes in one bowl and makes a lovely rustic and flavorful bread. So far I've only used lighter beer (Blue Moon Belgian White specifically) but am definitely going to be experimenting more with other types of beer (especially Guinness), as well as herb combinations.

Why are Thomas English muffins so much better? ›

The distinctive taste, texture and flavor of Thomas' English Muffins come from griddle baking. This process, unchanged since day one, uses quality ingredients to create our distinctively coarse-grained, yeast-raised dough. They are split, not sliced, to preserve their unique, toast-up-perfectly texture.

Why aren't my English muffins airy? ›

A firm, dry dough will not produce an airy center. Avoid using ALL whole wheat flour because you may end up with bread hockey pucks.

Is it cheaper to make your own English muffins? ›

Homemade English muffins are fun to make, delicious, and cost just pennies each. Make this your next weekend project!

What is the best beer to bake with? ›

Amber and brown ales tend to be less bitter than the alternatives and feature a nutty flavor. Because of this, these beers are often recommended for caramels, cookies, and pies. Light-colored beers have their place in baking, too. Lagers and Witbiers are used in lighter cakes and cookies.

What kind of beer to use for Trader Joe's beer bread? ›

It's also the phrase you'll find gracing each box of Trader Joe's Beer Bread Mix. The flavor of the finished loaf really depends on what kind of beer you use: Go with a lager for a lighter profile, an IPA for a hearty, hoppy taste, or a stout for a rich result with a slightly darker finished product.

Is IPA good for beer bread? ›

Just remember that whatever beer you choose, the flavor profile will come through. In general, I'd probably steer clear of IPAs, unless you really love that bitterness, since it gives the baked bread a slightly bitter bite. But I think dark and fruity beers would almost always work really well,” he said.

Why do you put beer in beer bread? ›

The yeast in the beer interacts with the sugar to help the bread to rise (and the baking powder gives the bread an additional boost to keep it from becoming dense). Be wise, however, in choosing the beer you use. A beer with fruit tones will lend a sweeter, fruity bread.
